Use Witscript when you have a setup and want jokes on it, especially topical ones. Use Shutap when the material is something that happened to you and you want a bit to perform. They solve neighboring problems.
What Witscript does
Per its own site, you give it a setup sentence and it returns several jokes and picks a favorite. It also offers a tool to punch up a joke, one that rates a joke, and one that suggests setups from current news. It was created by Joe Toplyn, a former late-night head writer, and is a paid monthly subscription currently available to users in the United States.
What Shutap does
You write a real story. Shutap lists observations about it, writes four whole bits, checks them with rules in code, and has a second AI model from a different family rank them. You get a hook, a setup, tags and a button, then steer: hotter, tighter, escalate, swap a tag, or mix your own from lines it wrote for your story.

Witscript starts from a sentence and returns jokes. Shutap starts from a story and returns a structured bit, viewable as a teleprompter, a scene or a screenplay page.
